I am the Senior Counsellor at The Mulberry Centre (www.themulberrycentre.co.uk ), a cancer support charity based at West Middlesex Hospital. Along with managing the 20+ counselling team, I see individual clients – these include; patients, carers, recently bereaved and those affected by the impact of cancer. My work at the centre has ranged from facilitating long term support groups to offering immediate emotional support for individual clients.
I have also worked for 4 years at The Place2Be Charity (www.place2be.org.uk) as a School Counsellor, offering early intervention for children in schools. Children range from 5 years up to teenagers, with issues as diverse as relationship breakdowns, trust, boundaries, abandonment, loss and abuse.
Prior to retraining as a counsellor, I spent 15 years in the corporate world. I find that this experience adds to my understanding and appreciation of the challenges faced in the busy world today.
